I need some help choosing a new HVAC system. My current system is a 5-ton Lennox that is only 7 years old. It is a 2 zoned system that will only run 1 at a time. Unfortunately it has 2 leaks, 1 upstairs in the evaporation coil and one outside. The repair quotes are extremely high and about ½ the cost of a new system just without the warranties.
I have a 2-story 2,654 square foot south facing house. I live in central California. I have had 3 different contractors out, but am still waiting on the last quote which I should get sometime tomorrow.
Contractor A:
1st option
American Standard 16-seer 4 ton single stage condenser model 4A7A6049
American Standard 95% Two-stage variable speed furnace AUH2C100A9V4
Coil: ADP TG84660
Honeywell Pro6000 wifi
2nd option
Only difference is the a/c unit
American Standard 18-seer 4 ton Two-Stage model 4A7A7048
Contractor B:
1st option
Rheem 16-seer 5 ton Two-Stage Condenser Prestige model RARL-061JEZ
Rheem 96% Two-stage furnace model R96VA1002521MSA
Coil: ADP R60H245P776
Rheem Touch Screen TH8320R
2nd option
Only difference is the a/c unit and coil
Rheem 16-seer 5 ton condenser- Classic model RA1660AJ1
Coil: ADP R60H210P196
Contractor C:
No info yet but will send me quotes on a 14-seer and 15-seer 5-ton Trane single condenser he doesnt recommend a Two-Stage
The only contractor who didnt do a Manual J was contractor A. I am at a complete loss as to if a Two-Stage condenser is something I should have or not and if I should be leaning to a specific brand. Any guidance would be extremely appreciated. Thanks.
