Furnace Blower Question

My home has an addition built on by the previous owner. The furnace that is installed in an 80% American Standard from 1997. The addition portion of the house does not get as warm as the main house does. There is duct work run from the main trunk over the vents in the addition but it doesn't appear that the air handler is pushing the heated air far enough.

Can a new furnace correct this problem or is this just a simple air handler/moving situation? I put in a few of those floor vent boosters that help but I'd rather just have a more powerful furnace that can move the air farther.
