Hi. I live in a mobile home with a Intertherm/Nordyne System.
The other day my ac kicked on and the blower powered up and immediately cut back off. The outside unit was still on. The compressor was still working because when I took the cover off, all of the hot air was making the pipes and coils ice up. The blower motor at the very top was turning but not pushing air like it should have been.
We had an ac man come out and he put 3lbs of coolant in our outside unit. He mentioned that the motor may be going bad and we might have to replace it.
After he left, the blower kept cutting on and off. I say off...but it's actually still spinning it's just not spinning really fast, or powerful enough to push air through the vents. It got up to 82 degrees with the thermostat set on 70.
After about 30 mins-an hr of it cutting on and "off" it finally cut on and stayed on all night long! It was 67 degrees when we woke up this morning. Then......about 10 this morning...it stopped again. "Off" all day...and about 7 tonight started trying to cut on again.
My question is...Do you think this is the motor going bad? Or perhaps the capacitor? Or a power supply shorting out somewhere?
I was going to order a new motor, but I was thinking it would either work good or not work at all. And with it cutting on and off, I just question whether it is the motor or something supplying power to the blower motor.
Maybe that makes sense.
Thanks for you help!
