We are in the early process of getting quotes for a new HVAC system.
We moved into a 25 yr old two story 1950 sq home last summer. We are in WNY. It has original Lennox HVAC units that are still working but think they might be at their end soon.
We have to quotes so far. Contractor #1 is a small company and has been to house for pervious owner before and spent 15 minutes looking at current unit and said he would send a quote. I wasn't home and wife was home but works from home and couldn't talk much.
Contractor #2 is a bigger company and stayed 1 hour 45 minutes with a long sales speech....nothing wrong with that but a lot more time then #1. #2 took load cal and explained a lot
#1 recommended a Heil G9MXE-80 96%, White Rodgers Thermostat and a Heil N4A3-36 13 SEER AC unit
#2 recommended 3 different Trane Furnaces and 3 different Trane AC units. I left quote home sorry
Should the short visit by #1 or with his history with the home be why he didn't do a load calculation?
How would you compare the Heil units to Trane Furnaces and AC?
Any advice apprieciated
